Henry Chappell

Henry Chappell is writing a biography of the western writer Elmer Kelton for Creed & Culture. He is the author of six nonfiction books and three novels. His most recent novel, Silent We Stood, won the 2014 Western Writers of America Spur Award. His latest nonfiction book, One Day Closer to Rain: A King Ranch Story, is scheduled for publication in 2026. His articles and essays have appeared in the American Conservative, Orion, Texas Wildlife, Land Report, and many other outlets. He lives with his family in Parker, Texas, and his website is at www.byhenrychappell.com.
