Bill Kauffman is the author of eleven books, among them Dispatches from the Muckdog Gazette, which won the 2003 national “Sense of Place” award from Writers & Books; Look Homeward, America, which the American Library Association named one of the best books of 2006 and which won the Andrew Eiseman Writers Award from the University of Rochester; and Ain’t My America, which Barnes & Noble named one of the best books of 2008. His works range from a novel (Every Man a King) to a biography (Forgotten Founder, Drunken Prophet: The Life of Luther Martin) to the screenplay for the 2013 feature film Copperhead.

Kauffman’s writings on subjects from baseball to political history have appeared in numerous publications, including the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times Book Review, The Independent (UK), and The American Scholar. He is a regular columnist for the Spectator (World) and the American Conservative and a founding editor of Front Porch Republic. Kauffman lives in his native Batavia, New York, with his wife, Lucine.
