Paul Horgan was one of the twentieth century’s most accomplished American writers. The winner of two Pulitzer Prizes, including one for Lamy of Santa Fe, Horgan worked across genres. Historian David McCullough once said of Horgan that, with the exception of the legendary Wallace Stegner, “no living American has so distinguished himself in both fiction and history.” Horgan grew up in Connecticut and New Mexico and taught for many years at Wesleyan University, where he was a fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies. He also served as president of the American Catholic Historical Association.
