Bradley J. Birzer

Bradley J. Birzer, author of a forthcoming Creed & Culture book on the mind of Ray Bradbury, is the Russell Amos Kirk Chair in American Studies and Professor of History at Hillsdale College, where he has taught for nearly three decades. Cofounder and Senior Editor of The Imaginative Conservative, Birzer is the author of J. R. R. Tolkien’s Sanctifying Myth; Sanctifying the World: The Augustinian Life and Mind of Christopher Dawson; American Cicero: The Life of Charles Carroll; Russell Kirk: American Conservative; In Defense of Andrew Jackson; Beyond Tenebrae: Christian Humanism in the Decline of the West; Mythic Realms: Literature, Film, and the Moral Imagination; Tolkien and the Inklings: Men of the West; and The Declaration of Independence: 1776 and All That. His books have been reviewed favorably and extensively in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times.  Birzer is married to Dedra Birzer, an academic historian, professional editor, and publisher. They have seven children.
